public and private Commissions
designed and created for architectural settings

"Estuary Gate" is a public art commission awarded for a public city park.  This forged iron sculptured set of double gates secures the north entrance to the fountain and gardens inside the park.

There are creatures incorporated in the design reminiscent of grotesques and gargoyles representing flora and fauna of an estuary.  A sculptured turtle swims in the channel of the wetland with a canopy of migrating birds overhead.

Solid iron bars were hand forged on an anvil creating sensuous linear lines that play against the sculptured steel plate forms and figures.

This gate as well as the companion gate mounted on the front entrance of the park was recognized with an award from the American Society of Landscape Architects.
