checking the sculpture for fit

After the end of the day I'll come back into the studio and check out the work in progress.  During these moments I can stand back and try to have a more objective view about how the piece is developing.  This is an important part of the process....just removing myself from the work a little bit which then allows me to examine the form itself.

Sometimes when we're engrossed in the making of a piece we tend to focus more of our attention on the technical aspect of the work.  This isn't a bad thing, it's necessary in fact, but it's a good idea to slow down some, move around on the piece and maybe back off a little bit.  Every section is critical in a piece of sculpture so it's important not to let one area or another get out of hand.

Tomorrow I may make some adjustments or maybe I'll simply finish off the final section and weld it in place.  We'll see.
