copper form

This view shows the underside of the sample piece.  It was orginally formed in a dishing bowl then partially raised in the center area.  I don't remember now what it was that I had intended but it doesn't matter now.  We'll just take it from here and see where it leads us.

This is one of the nicest things about being able to work in a direct process.  Changes and alterations can be made at will and if a shape isn't working just yet then it can be put aside and picked up later for reshaping into something else.  That's what I'm going to be doing with this piece.  I think of it as a found object that I'm simply modifying even though I'm the one originally responsible for this awkward shape.

After looking at this shape for a while I'm beginning to feel that I would like to articulate the front face a bit more and incorporate an almost geometrical shape somewhere into the rounded form.
