shrinking tool

This is a shrinking tool that was made for fluting the edges of a form.  I'll show how this is used on the next page but it's essentially a concave shape ground out of a block of steel.  It's a good idea to relieve all the edges on this tool to avoid chopping into the metal as it's hammered into this shape.

I have this particular tool offset by about four inches since it's normally used on the rounded or dished out edges of a shape.  The offset allows a bit of clearance for a bowl shape to be tucked underneath as the edges are being worked on.

This welded up stake has a 1 1/2" square stem, a 2" x 2" x 4" offset on which is mounted a ground out grooved block. It's a pretty solid stake.
