background Quadreverz is a conceptual alteration on my work that began over ten years ago. I had become interested in ways to express ideas that extend beyond the boundries of material without losing the connection. Direct metal sculpture making was usually my method of choice for expression but it no longer seemed to completely fufill my needs. So I started working through the Quadreverz concept by incorporating some other skills into the total process of my work. I discarded the notion of an objective and formal construct in terms of visual integrity and embraced the idea of a freewheeling narrative approach instead. This change in attitude and acceptance has imparted one of the most liberating effects on all of my work to date. Sure, there are similarities and precedence with other works done especially the Mansect Series. However this more matured version is decidedly a form of story telling like none I've done before. The current approach is created in what I consider a singular form using expressive devices drawn from different disciplines. The intent is to integrate everything into a single universal language (or form) spoken in different dialects. To experience Quadreverz through one media or format a continuous, though not necessarily a seamless connection, should be understood when experienced through another doorway. If this happens then the work is succeeding, if not then I have much more to do for improvement. Quadreverz then becomes a complex three dimensional maze that in itself is an integral component of the whole idea itself. Afterall, the central premise behind this mythology is discovering in other ways, what we know and experience as well as what we think the possibilities are, whether here or not here. This primary effort is centered around a personal investigation and interpretation of what I consider an inter-dimensional understanding of the universe. Much of it is weighed in favor of the human experience but some does reference aspects of experience outside ourselves as well. Now that doesn't mean that I'm seeking absolute truth through measurable means. Rather this is a personal truth/search brought about through imagination, careless assumptions and a blatant disregard for conventional truth. Reality is something created outside of existance and that reality for each of us is in the mind. Artmaking in general is a common vehicle for that kind of understanding so when all is said and done, that's all this effort is. A form of artmaking...maybe more....maybe less. |
