d i o N o t e s March 2000 There isn't anything new added to the site this month but that doesn't mean that things are quiet. I've beeen working on a new series of small sculptures and either later this month or the first of April I'll upload whatever is completed from the current series. Here is a preview of what I'm doing right now. The photos are low quality but they are hurry up shots and will do for now.
I haven't exactly decided what I'll call this series but I think of these pieces as "habitats" which are sort of containers representing some inhabitants of the Quadreverz realm. Originally I thought of these shapes as boxes but they quickly evolved into architectural forms instead so the empty spaces are more like rooms and windows rather than box interiors. Well, more on this later when I post the set of images in their own special section. I'm also simultaneously working on a set of virtual models for large scale public pieces. These are being created using a 3-d cad program. I just switched to a new piece of cad software called Rhino so there is a learning curve taking place while I'm designing at the same time. I don't know if these will be on my site in April or May since I'm still trying to find my way around with the new program as well as trying to figure out the rendering software as well. I think it's actually easier and faster for me to make scale models instead of trying to work out the designs this way but this is how I want to do it for now. Chris Ray
