d i o N o t e s May 2000 Things have slowed down a bit this past month so the series I've been working on is interrupted for now. Whenever there is a lengthy break in the midst of a series of works then what seems to follow afterward is a much slower progress in development. Actually that isn't so important in this particular case since the statement itself isn't very complicated and the form is pretty much worked out. From this point onward, the Enviro series will probably just change incrementally and be modified as the need arises. However the statement has been defined more or less so the main purpose of doing a quick succession of works is done. I do have a singular piece that I'm working on right now which includes a winged figure. I'm not quite sure what that piece is about just yet. It sort of feels like a prelude to another short series of "guardians" or "warriors" as metaphors for aids that help us overcome whatever obstacles we face. Well, that was what motivated the current piece because I was quitting smoking. Not an easy thing for some of us to do on our own. However I did it! I had to use a nicotine patch to help me ease out of the habit and it was the only thing that would work for me. I've tried quitting on my own too many times to count and never succeeded that way. This month I'll be working on a couple of websites as well as the ArtTeach.com site. It isn't likely that I'll be spending too much time in the studio working on the sculptures but who knows.
